1. Store Sugars and Sweets in Airtight Containers
Ants seek sugars and proteins. Leaving sugar bowls, honey jars, or cereal boxes open invites scouts. Store sweet food items in sealed jars to lock in scents.
2. Wipe Countertops with Vinegar Spray
Ants lay down invisible chemical scent trails (pheromones) for others to follow. Wiping surfaces with a vinegar-and-water solution disrupts these trails, disorienting the colony scouts.
3. Seal Crack Openings Near Windows
Ants slip inside through tiny cracks in window frames and baseboards. Seal these entry points with caulk or silicone to block outdoor trails from entering.
4. Eliminate Standing Water and Sink Leaks
Ants need water to survive. Wipe up sink splashes, empty pet water bowls overnight, and repair dripping faucets to eliminate easy water sources.
